I remember the first time I tasted pure Cacao: it was a small ball that someone gave me at the agroecological market in Cordoba, Argentina, I still have a photo on my computer because I was amazed by this amount of pure chocolate , and I still remember how INTENSE it was!
Cacao is not likely to be grown in Argentina, even less likely 6 years ago,is not part of our culture or our traditions. So , It wasn't until I started traveling (2019) that I connected with Cacao as Medicine. I must say that I was fortunate to spend three and a half months living with a community that grew and produced biodynamic cacao and coffee in Tapachula, Chiapas, Mexico (the Soconusco region). At that time I had the opportunity not only to learn the entire process of cacao cultivation and chocolate production, I was in direct contact with the trees, I learned the process from scratch and began to commune with the plant on a daily basis! The best part of this period was that I had a lot of ‘free time’ ( was working for an NGO where we tried to connect with all the edible plants that were in the place by trying different ways to incorporate them and trying to contribute to improving the community's health). At the same time I was going through a health "problem" related to my uterus: I hadn't had my period for two years…

The trip continued and Cacao remained in my heart. From that moment on I always
tried to have a little amount of Cacao beans on hand, which fortunately is something
easy to find here in Mexico. Also, a Medicine woman I met had told me that it is a great
protector and she advised me to always have it in my backpack when I was moving.
Thus, the seed went with me everywhere and at the same time, I could share some seeds with other travellers.
One day while in Guanajuato I was invited to a Milpa* where some
friends were building an altar to perform different ceremonies. They asked me to offer
something to enter the place and, as I always had cacao with me, and so I offered some
seeds. That day we worked in the fields and at the end we sang a lot, I remember that at
one point I walked away from the group to sing with my drum and I kept offering cacao,
praying for the alignment and healing of my uterus... A few days later my period started
again, and I started to heal!
From there I felt the connection stronger than ever with Cacao, this was the beginning
of a long process of introspection and a call to connect with my feminine, I promised
myself to start 'working' with it, adding 2 or 3 seeds to my morning meditations, asking
Cacao to be a bridge between my heart and my uterus - my creative space and my
purpose. I attended many ceremonies and personally, I committed to consuming cacao.
This immediately led me to start sharing Cacao, because I always had it with me and
because it is also something that I naturally love to do: sharing food is my love language.
Additionally, I could really feel the connection and how the spirit of the plant manifested
in me when I took or consumed it.
So it was that, on one occasion, a friend who did tantric circles for women in Tulum
invited me to be part of her circle, sharing my cocoa. She said can you prepare
ceremonial Cacao and guide us in the circle for experimenting the medicine of Cacao,? I see that you have a beautiful connection.
But I'm not Mexican nor was I trained as a Cacao master! I replied
I don't thi it matter, I feel it when you shared it with me ... I love your Cacao! and I really feel that connection
She told me,
And there I was, hand in hand with my friend's trust and support for Cacao, I prepared 2
liters of ceremonial doss and I left! From that moment on, I began to prepare Cacao
now, in ceremonial doses, to take to meetings with friends, birthdays, and special
occasions, or just because I felt like preparing it and took it to someone I knew... soon, I
found myself leading a circle of Full Moon in Valle de Bravo, in the house where I was
living at that moment. Later on, I made another circle of friends in San Cristobal de las
Casas and then, I began to offer my circles weekly in Sayulita. A few months ago I went
on a trip to Europe and Morocco with a lot of Cacao to share. I was surprised that none
of the people I met were aware of Cacao as medicine and many of them had never tried
Pure Cacao, so sharing it was a joy and an honor. It made me realize, once again, how
immense and varied the world is and the importance of exchanging with other ways of
thinking... Living in such a small town where I have the grace to do what I like and being
surrounded by people who are on the same 'wellness wave'. Sometimes I forget to
contemplate that other realities exist.
I am grateful that Cacao has found me and that it is currently a great channel for my
purpose. For me, Cacao is a bridge, a tool, and one more way to call for love in human
beings. There are many things I love about working with this medicine. The first is the
fluidity and lightness with which it brings and attracts what is necessary. Before each
circle, I just need to touch and connect with the cacao seed. As I prepare the paste, this
first connection makes me know how to prepare the base tea for the drink and what
energy is going to be presented in the circle of the day. From there on, I create the
dynamics to guide the circle.
Another one of my favorite things about Cacao is that no matter how people arrive at a
Cacao circle, they always leave with a smile, and no matter how shy they are, everyone
shares at least something in the circle at the end, the magic that happens is really
fascinating .
